2 About the Coach Mrs. Mary Katherine Hackmann Currently teaching math and coaching cheerleading at Dillard Drive MS Cheer Coach in Wake County for 3 years Carolina Championship (Greensboro, NC) 1 st Place – November 2014

3 Other Coaches in Wake County Stefanie Barton: Currently the JV Cheer Coach at Apex HS, Asst. Cheer Coach at DDMS, and Stunt Coach at Apex HS Courtney May: Currently the Varsity Cheer Coach at Apex HS and Stunt Coach at Apex HS Accolades: Apex HS Varsity Cheer won 1 st place at NCHSAA State Cheer Competition in November 2014

4 What is STUNT? STUNT removes the crowd-leading element and focuses on the technical and athletic components of cheer, including partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, group jumps and tumbling.

5 4-Quarter Format Round 2 – 1 pt. Round 3 – 1 pt. Round 4 – 1 pt. 2 nd Quarter Pyramids/Tosses Round 1 – 1 pt. Round 2 – 1 pt. Round 3 – 1 pt. Round 4 – 1 pt. Halftime (10 minutes) 3 rd Quarter Jumps/Tumbling Round 1 – 1 pt. Round 2 – 1 pt. Round 3 – 1 pt. Round 4 – 1 pt. 4 th Quarter Team Routine Round 1 – 3 pts. Round 2 – 3 pts. Quarter Break (4 minutes) 1 st Quarter Partner Stunts

6 Routine Format Routines are made up of 9 eight-counts (approximately 35 seconds) Routines are in progression of difficulty 1 - 6

7 STUNT Calendar March 2: Tryouts March 3: Tryouts March 4: First Team Practice April 1: First Game (at Apex HS – versus Apex HS and Knightdale HS) All other games are on Thursdays in April April 30: Playoffs May 9: Championship

8 Tryouts Cheerleading background is NOT mandatory Roster = 8 - 20 players 8 = minimum number of players to form pyramids 20 = maximum amount of uniforms purchased Travel Team = 14 players

9 Mandatory Concussion Test Thursday, February 12 2:30pm with Eric Hall Media Center computers If you have already completed this, you’re off the hook! Certification is valid for 2 years.
