2 Elementary Education Graduate Certificate in Teaching (GCT)/ Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program

3 Overview Phase 1: 27 credit hours – 8 courses (24 credit hours) – Full time student teaching internship (3 credit hours) Phase 2: 12 credit hours – 4 courses – 100% online asynchronous

4 Phase 1 All courses are either face-to-face or hybrid (some online weeks) All courses include clinical (school-based) experiences All projects required for graduation are built into courses except for the licensure exams

5 Licensure Exams General Curriculum Tests (2) – Both must be taken before student teaching – Both must be passed in order to be licensed – Multi-subject and Mathematics Both can be taken at the same time to save money Content reflects high school and undergraduate content and is not covered in your courses Foundations of Reading – Must be taken before student teaching – Must be passed in order to be licensed – Content is covered in Reading Courses

6 Phase 2 During student teaching or after you MUST apply to the MAT program If you have above a 3.5 GPA you only need to apply and have recommendations If you have below a 3.5 GPA you need to take either the Millers Analogy Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
