13 Education in Korea! Public and private schools are expensive. 6 years elementary, 3 years junior high, 3 years high school % of students go to vocational schools in high school. Students go 220 days (US – 180) Typical day lasts from 8am- 4pm, break at home, 6pm-9pm cram “hagwon” school, 9pm-11 pm independent study 75% attend “hagwons” or cram schools every night The “sunueng” or college entrance exam is giving once a year. Only 2% get into the top three universities. Still 64% of year olds got a university degree in Unemployment rates however are rising among college grads
