2 Introduction For research and development our group collected additional information about The Call of the Wild that wasn’t found in the book. This information will help people fully understand what was happening in the book.

3 Jack London Jack London was born in 1876 in San Francisco. He was a highly disciplined writer who wrote over 50 writing pieces. He started writing in 1899,by writing the “Overland Monthly”. 5 Dog Sled Races Dog sled races are a very popular sport in Alaska. The most famous long-distance race is the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The Iditarod is 1,150 miles and goes over mountains, frozen rivers and forests. It is from Anchorage to Nome and most led dogs wear harnesses and are hooked in pairs. The first race on the Iditarod trail was in 1967. http://jackmanmaine.org/mai ne-dog-sled-races.php http://www.zimbio.co m/pictures/IX8oVa_I Swl/Pullman+City+Q uest+Dog+Sled+Rac e/Vp6YeYTkoaj

6 Specific Cities Santa Cara Valley is were Buck lived with Judge Miller in the first part of his life. Santa Clara Valley is located in California. In the book Buck travels to Dawson more than once. Dawson played a big part in the Klondike Gold Rush because many people traveled through there. By 1899, the gold rush had ended and the town's population plummeted as all but 8,000 people left. 7 Conclusion In this PowerPoint we tried to explain different parts of The Call of the Wild that may have been confusing. They could have been confusing because the reader may have had they appropriate information, and we tried to give all the correct information about different subjects like the author, Jack London, Alaska, dog sled races, and specific cites that were mentioned in the book.
