The module aims:   To familiarise the student with all aspects of the management of an Art House cinema.   To give the student practical experience of managing an Art House cinema, and of support roles involved in the running of the cinema.   To raise student awareness of the implications of the cinema’s role within the community it serves and within the wider field of cinema provision, and offer practical engagement with programme planning.   To provide training for, and to involve the student in, the process of job application in the field of cinema management.

8. LEARNING OUTCOMES On successful completion of this module students will be able to: 1. 1.Understand the role that programming and financing play in the development of the cinema and the service it provides for its various user groups. 2. 2.Plan a film event and be aware of the implications of that event in terms of cost, programming, audience, and legal requirements.

9. 3. 3.Manage the daily running of the cinema to a professional standard and be aware of the legislative environment in which the cinema operates. 4. 4.Reflect upon tasks undertaken, and understand their value in terms of personal development. 5. 5.Identify career opportunities in the field of cinema management, and programming, and of the procedures involved in job applications.
