2  Rule #1  Don’t use two prepositions in a row Examples: Incorrect: Get that glass off of the table. Correct: Get that glass off the table. Incorrect: The bowl is filled up with water. Correct: The bowl is filled with water. Incorrect: The meat is inside of the container. Correct: The meat is inside the container.

3  Rule #2  The difference between in and into. Into indicates movement from one place to another. In indicates current position. Examples: *He went into the store. (movement) *He was in the store. (position)

8 Passive Voice will use either was or were with the verb, and the verb will be in past tense.

9 *Identify as Passive or Active Voice 1. Mary listened to the music. 2. Bill handed the note to Jerry. 3. Jerry was handed the note. 4. He was given a detention. 5. Janet left a note for her mother.
