He is a tempter, distracting humans from practicing the spiritual life by making mundane things alluring, or the negative seem positive.

Seen as a burden to the family; males carried the family, and bear responsibility. Males looked after the women. Seen as little use for the family because she could not perform any religious rights.

Taught that they do not deserve freedom and always had to be taken care of or be taking care of someone. Young= taken care of by the mother and father. Old= in charge of children
-Birth of sons and daughters – Parents had prayed for the birth of sons so they could carry on the family (name and tradition). Fathers would feel miserable at the birth of a daughter.
Islam – The Quran: collection of Islamic scriptures
Divorce: gives women rights if they are divorced, lets women divorce in some cases.
Education:educate daughters the same as sons
