100 BC. Julius Caesar was born in Rome. He was named after his father. His mother’s name was Aurelia, and his two older sisters were both named Julia.

87 BC. His father had just died and he became the head of the house. Cinna appointed him to become flamen dialis, the High Preist of Jupiter at age sixteen.

84 BC. He marries his first wife Cornelia, she was the daughter of Cinna. Cinna was the leader of the city along with his uncle Marius.

80 BC. Caesar battles Mithridates in Asia, and is awarded the civic crown for bravery and honor.

77 BC. He becomes an advocate in Rome. An advocate was a lot like being a lawyer. This is where he showed his orator skills and the Romans were not going to forget his name. He had a reputation as an advocate for the “little people”. This would serve him well moving forward.

75 BC. He was travelling by boat to the Greek Island of Rhodes when his ship was taken over by pirates from Cilicia. The pirates knew that the Romans would pay a high ransom for his return. He was finally rescued in about a month. When he returned he quickly put together a fleet of ships and returned to capture the pirates. He had each one of them executed.

69 BC. His wife and aunt pass away. Elected as questor, and moves to Spain.

61 BC. Appointed the governor of Spain.

59 BC. He’s elected as counsel of Rome.

55 BC. He crosses the Rhine river into Germany. Becomes the first Roman general to travel to Britain.

52 BC. He defeats Vercingetorix at Alesia. He built walls keeping the Gauls in there homeland where they starved.

49 BC. Caesar crosses the Rubicon and sets off a civil war.

48 BC. Defeats Pompey’s forces in Greece. Travels to Egypt and meets Cleopatra.

47 BC, Defeats the army of Ptolemy XIII and names Cleopatra queen.

44 BC. Becomes Roman dictator for life. His love of power got him killed by his own people on March 15 th, the Ides of March.
