November 8 th visitors from all over the country will be visiting our AVID classes What will they be looking for? Making sure that we are maintaining the standards of an AVID demonstration model school ▪ They will be critiquing our tutorials ▪ They will look through your binders

Your TRF must be a question you DON’T know. The whole point of tutorials is to figure out the stuff you are having trouble with in your other classes. You will not be given credit for tutorials if you do a question you already know. Make sure that ALL parts of the tutorial are completed to get full credit on the “Pre-work Inquiry” This included the “critical thinking” and “process” boxes

Student presenter must recite their 30- second speech 30 Sec. Speech Script: ▪ “My initial question is…” ▪ “Key terms associated with my question…” ▪ “I know…” ▪ Explain their critical thinking ▪ “My point of confusion is…” ▪ “What questions do you have for me…”

Based on the feedback last week’s: We are not asking questions during tutorials. ▪ It is never acceptable to tell the students presenter the answer or how to solve their problem. ▪ You MUST ask them questions

During tutorials: All students must be completing 3-column notes on their paper, but also on the white boards.

If you miss a tutorial, you must complete the following items in order to receive your points: 1. Complete a TRF 2. Go to after-school tutoring with the teacher that your TRF is based on. 3. Have your teacher sign the after-school tutoring form 4. Turn in completed TRF and after-school tutoring form

Revise your notes Highlight or underline key details Fill in missing information Complete the left-hand column Make your questions reflect the information in the notes ▪ Create 1 level 1 question ▪ Create 1 level 2 question ▪ Create 1 level 3 question Complete a 3-4 sentence summary of your notes
