2 The Windows XP and Office 2003 rollout has begun! To help you become more acquainted with some of the changes you will experience with this conversion, CENTRIX University and IT have partnered to bring you this brief tutorial. What you can expect to learn within this guide: The Navigation & Reading Panes Expanding your Inbox The Calendar Views Public Folders

3 Old Outlook Version New Outlook 2003 Version

4 # 1 - The Navigation Pane The left-most pane, called the Navigation Pane, provides centralized navigation to all parts of Microsoft Outlook 2003, and makes it easy to see your information the way you want to see it. Select your: Inbox (mail) Calendar Contacts Folder List

5 To see your inbox subfolders, you need to expand your inbox. To Expand Your Inbox: Simply click on the plus sign (+) directly to the left of your Inbox in the Navigation Pane. The folders you created in the old version of Outlook will appear under your Inbox.

6 #2 – The Center Pane The center pane in this three-pane layout provides a view of what is in the selected email folder. Display mail folders such as: Inbox Sent items Drafts

7 # 3 - The Reading Pane The Preview Pane found in earlier versions of Outlook has been redesigned and optimized for reading e-mail messages. Like a piece of paper, the Reading Pane is laid out vertically and displays nearly twice as much information on the screen as the old Preview Pane did.

8 To change the location of your Reading Pane: Click “View” on the toolbar Select “Reading Pane” Select “Right” or “Bottom” Choosing “Off” will eliminate the Reading Pane until you choose to activate it again.

9 Calendar View The Calendar view has been streamlined. You can now view multiple calendars next to your own calendar. The calendars scroll together and are color-coded and labeled to help you quickly compare schedules or schedule meetings. Select Calendars to view: Your own calendar Shared calendars

10 Folder List After selecting the Folder List Icon, Public Folders will then appear under All Folders in the Navigation Pane. Public Folders: To view Public Folders, select the Folder List icon at the bottom of your Navigation Pane.
