+ What is Mosaic Art? art of creating pictures and patterns on a surface using a combination of small materials of varying sizes to create a final work of art. Different materials – glass, stones, tile Dates back many many years. Used as decorations.

+ Organic vs. Geometric Irregular shapes, often found in nature. Rectangles, triangles, octagons, squares. Complex and stable. Not often found in nature. OrganicGeometric

+ Create your own mosaic! Using different colored paper, create an image of your own that expresses yourself and tells us about who you are!

+ TWIST Let’s use MATH too! If = 9 then = 4 ½ and = 2 ¼ Add up the total amount for each shape and create a multiplication sentence for each different shape. Example: 16 squares 16 x 9 = 144 10 half trianges 10 x 4 ½ = 45 3 fourth trianges 3 x 2 ¼ = 6 ¾
