Kameron And Markia

 The sun is the 1 st thing in a food chain.  Sunlight is energy and plants use this energy to turn water and carbon dioxide into plant food  Without the sun producers do not get energy  Without the sun producers will not grow

 A producer is an organism that makes its own food  All organisms need energy  Plants play the role of producers  Producers use photosynthesis to make food

 Herbivores and they eat plants  Primary consumers are animal that eat primary producers  This is because they are the 1 st animals to eat plants  In a food chain they are primary consumers

 Secondary consumers eat primary consumers  Secondary consumers are carnivores and omnivores  Many primary consumers make good snacks for larger animals  Other secondary consumers can enter the picture when they, in turn, eat the first secondary consumers, in this case the shrew

 Scavengers eat all the leftovers  Not all plant and animals get eaten by consumers  Some are animals dies its body parts break down  Some scavengers are lucky enough to live there lives at old age

 The scavengers and decomposers help move energy through the food chain  The insects are very important decomposers  Fly maggots, ants, beetles, moths, are decomposers  They eat it, lay eggs on it, or chew on it
