INDEFINITE ARTICLE
2
INDEFINITE ARTICLE A / AN Use 'a‘ before a singular noun starting with a consonant or sound of a consonant (letters that are not vowels) Examples: A boy A car A house
3
Use 'an' before a singular noun starting with a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) or sound of a vowel. The only exception to this rule are the words starting with "u" and this is pronounced /iu/ and not /Λ/, /u/ o /u:/. An apple An orange An architect
4
We use the indefinite article when we speak about jobs or professions. In Spanish we never use the indefinite article in this context, so watch out and do not forget to use them in English! Example I am a teacher He is an engineer She is an assistant
