2 Objective of RMCC Our primary role is to educate and develop Canadians into leaders committed to serving the Canadian Armed Forces and Canada 3

3 RMCC’s Four Components of Achievement Leadership Academics Athletics Bilingualism

4 Leadership Cadets will gain valuable experience by holding leadership positions which increase in responsibility every year Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of personal integrity, ethical behaviour and professional responsibility 5

5 Academics Programmes are designed to provide a balanced liberal, scientific and military education and include a Core Curriculum Academic programmes apply theoretical knowledge to daily operations and military settings

6 Athletics The Athletic department teaches the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle through a comprehensive programme that includes: 2 hour period of gym class per week 2 Physical Fitness tests per year Varsity or Intramural sports 7

7 Bilingualism Upon graduation Officer Cadets are expected to communicate effectively in both of Canada’s Official Languages. This is achieved through: Daily classes; Residency; Language weeks; and Summer training 8

8 A Cadet’s day at RMCC 0600 – 0800 hrs – Reveille, Ablutions, Breakfast, Various Activities 0800 – 1200 hrs – Classes 1130 – 1300 hrs – Lunch 1300 – 1630 hrs – Classes 1700 – 2230 hrs – Dinner, Athletics, Tutorials, 2300 hrs – Lights out 9

9 Admission Pre-requisites The minimum requirements include: 75% average with marks of at least 75 on the pre-requisites Extra curricular activities that demonstrate leadership potential Suitable for entry into the Canadian Armed Forces 10

10 Application Process Applications to the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) or the Reserve Entry Training Plan (RETP) are submitted online to the Canadian Armed Forces at www.forces.ca Deadline: mid-January Canadian Forces Recruiting Centers will administer an aptitude test, medical examination and an interview 11

11 Acceptance 2000 people apply, ~150 to RMCC Kingston, ~50 to RMCC St-Jean, 300 to Civilian University Successful ROTP/RETP applicants will be notified by their respective Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Center approximately mid April and will be assigned to RMCC, RMC Saint-Jean or Civilian university Note: All applicants must have a clear understanding of their contractual obligations 12

12 The Military experience begins All successful applicants attend Recruit Camp, an introduction to the Military conducted in Saint- Jean Quebec, two weeks prior to the start of First Year -Pay and pensionable time starts.

13 The RMCC programme begins Those attending RMCC Kingston and RMC Saint-Jean continue with FYOP which consists of a five week orientation to College life Culminates in the running of the Obstacle Course at the end of September Cadets go home for Thanksgiving 14

14 Military Training All Officer Cadets must participate in military training between academic years: –1 st & 2 nd – Basic Military Officer Qualification –2 nd & 3 rd – Second Language Education or Environmental Training –3 rd & 4 th – Environmental Training or Occupational Training 15

15 Upon Graduation Officer Cadets who successfully complete the RMCC programme graduate with an undergraduate degree and are commissioned as Second-Lieutenants in the Canadian Armed Forces and must serve for a minimum of 5 years RETP graduates are encouraged to continue as Officers in the CAF Reserves 16
