Typical form of PRAYER ADORATION: EUCHARISTIC ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Eucharist consecration During the consecration (the part of the Mass in which the priest prays over the bread and wine, repeating Jesus’ prayers from the Last Supper) the bread & wine become the body and blood of Christ

Eucharist the body and blood of Christ are referred to as the ‘Blessed Sacrament’

Eucharist truly present Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. Eucharistic adoration Eucharistic adoration: is a type of prayer in which one meditates before the Blessed Sacrament [and thus before Jesus] either privately = individually; or communally = together

Eucharist Benediction This communal prayer is referred to as Benediction. Benediction Benediction = special ritual prayer and blessing with the Blessed Sacrament

A monstrance is an ornate ‘container’ for the consecrated host
