Bhai Gurdas Jee on the ‘B’ word When the Guruship was passed on, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee like the Gurus became the embodiment of Divine Light. It should, therefore, be remembered very clearly that bowing before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee as Sikhs, is not bowing before a book, but it is a bowing before the Divine Light or Jot (Guru) which was passed on when the Guruship was conferred upon it. Respect and veneration for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee does not imply idol worship, but rather respect for a divine message, the ideas and ideals contained in the Sikh scripture. It is the source or a means to the worship of God through His Word, and not an object of worship in itself. Both the Gurus and the Book deserve the respect which they are accorded because of the bani which they express, the word of divine truth. Bhai Gurdas Jee states that “the picture of the Guru is the gurbani” (Bhai Gurdas, Var 24, pauri 11). Truth

Class Mind Mapping Truth What are the messages of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee? Why do we bow down to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee? What makes Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee unique? How does Maharaj talk to us everyday?

What are the messages of our living Guru? 1 All Peoples of the World are Equal- no caste discrimination 2 Women as Equals 3 One God for All 4 Speak and Live Truthfully 5 Control the Five Vices 6 Live in God's Hukam 7 Practise Humility, Kindness, Compassion, Love, etc 8 REMEMBER and RECITE Vaheguru’s name

Why do we bow (methaa tek) to SGGSJ?  Reverence to the Shabad Guru not IDOL worshipping but to understand and connect with the Ultimate Truth.  Bow as our head belongs to the Guru.  Our forehead touches the floor as a sign of humility and our prayer to ask Maharaj to wipe the bad sins written on our forehead “As one bows reverentially to an old or elderly person to touch his feet or knees, the hand of the elderly person automatically comes on the head or shoulder of the youngster to bless him. So is the nature of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib. As one bows reverentially to pay homage at the holy feet of Eternal Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the compassionate holy hands of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib similarly move forward on the head of a true aspirant, believer, devout, faithful and bless him. Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= w0rZo_GaF_0 This video is in Punjabi, listen carefully to identify the meanings.

It is the Bani we worship Amrit Bani (Gurbani) was the Guru from the very beginning. Sri Guru Nanak Sahib illuminated the world through Gurbani. The same divine Jot continued the process of illumination through Gurbani in the luminous form of Sri Guru Angad Sahib. Sri Guru Nanak Sahib continued the divine process through Sri Guru Amar Das Ji and so on. Illumination continues unabated through the same Gurbani from Sri Guru Granth Sahib. For Gurmukhs, the eternal illumination is flowing straight from the holy lips of Jot Roop Har Guru Nanak whereas others only perceive a holy book in front. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is 'JAAGDI JOT', LIVING SRI GURU NANAK SAHIB Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj

What makes SGGSJ unique?  Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Living, awake Sri Guru Nanak Sahib who talks. Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj  It’s form is ETERNAL. There is not one human form rather the form of Shabad Guru which can be accessed by millions on a daily basis! We are blessed to listen and speak to our Guru on a daily basis!  The only UNIVERSAL scripture compiled by the prophets themselves.  The most unique sacred ‘scripture’ which is not exclusive but open to all. It promotes love, peace, harmony and the equality of humanity.  Contains compositions of Saints, Sufis of other religions, caste and cultures. For example, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.  Contains comprehensive philosophy of life for the whole human race.  Multi religious Holy Granth which contains the truth for everyone  It is the only ‘religious text’ that actually talks to you everyday!!!
