1. EXPERIMENT WITH CANDY BY MASON The Scientific Method

2. Overview The Scientific Method is an organized # of steps used to solve a problem. Scientists use this method to provide data or information for later testing and experiments. Once the scientist has their own hypothesis, they will conduct an experiment to find the true answer. My experiment involves conducting an experiment that uses candy. It also involves the Scientific Method.

3. State the Problem Can I find out what the flavor inside my piece of chocolate is?

4. Form a Hypothesis I think that the inside flavor of my piece of chocolate is caramel based on the dark color and complexion.

5. Identify and Control the Variables My control is the inside flavor of the candy and my variable is everybody having a different piece of chocolate.

6. Test your Hypothesis I will smell and taste the chocolate to conclude what the flavor inside the chocolate will be. When the experiment is over I will use my results to estimate what the candy is. It looks like caramel. It’s possible

7. Collect your Data The candy is black and has a pecan colored inside. It smells like coffee. It tastes like caramel and feels like putty.

8. Interpret your Data I think my candy is a caramel filled chocolate. I think that because I got to taste my candy to see if my hypothesis is correct.

9. State your Conclusion My hypothesis was correct. I found that out once I tasted the candy.
