First Computer The word “computer” was first recorded being used in 1613 and was originally used to describe a person who performed calculations or computations. The definition of a computer remained the same until the 19 th century when it began referring to a machine that performed calculations. Mainframe and Minicomputer MainframeMinicomputer Mainframe is a big computing machine which handles thousands of users across the world. Mainframe computers history starts in the 1950s. IBM started selling in 1952, by announcing IBM 700 series. Microcomputer, Apple 1 and 2 MicrocomputerApple 1 and 2 A microcomputer is a computer with a microprocessor as its CPU. It includes a microprocessor, memory, input/output. Such computers are physically small compared to mainframes and minicomputers. Smaller microcomputers first marketed in the 1970s Wozniak had been dabbling in computer design, when finally in 1976 he design the Apple 1. The Apple did not begin to take off until 1977, when the Apple 2 debuted at a local computer trade show. Macintosh (Mac) and Macintosh XL MacintoshMacintosh XL On January 24, 1984 was introduced. It was the first commercially successful PC to feature a mouse and a graphical interface rather than a command line interface. Macintosh XL was introduced in January 1985. It had a camera with higher resolution and video ability, voice control, and better performance over all. iPhone 4 was announced on June 7, 2010.
