Death of Lennie’s Puppy Death of Curley’s Wife Similarities between the two scenes. Add on to the Chapter 5 Foreshadowing notes in the Reading lessons section of your comp. book. Make a list of similarities between the two scenes.
13
Look at your list of similarities and put a * next to each similarity that you believe acts as a hint that Curley’s wife is going to die. Are there any events/character development/symbols/repetition/setting that aren’t common to both scenes but still act as hints? If so add them to the list and put a * next to them.
14
Evidence Look back on your list of similarities and hints (the * items). 1. Select the three that you believe most clearly foreshadowed the death of Curley’s wife. 2. For two of the similarities/hints find passages that relate. Ex: Lennie worries about George’s reaction. Passage: “ ‘[George] Says I can’t tend no rabbits if I talk to you or anything’”(Steinbeck 94). 3. Keep one of the similarities/hints as a paraphrase or restatement. 4. Copy the two passages and one paraphrase onto the evidence side of your T chart.
