STAGES OF MITOSIS
2
What is Mitosis? Mitosis is a cell division that results in two daughter cells having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent cell.
3
Prior to Mitosis: INTERPHASE
4
Steps in Interphase The longest phase in which the cell is dormant.
Cell gets ready to go through cell division. Chromosome number doubles.
5
Phase 1 of Mitosis PROPHASE
6
Steps in Prophase Centrioles move to opposite ends of the cell.
A spindle develops. The nuclear membrane breaks down. *Chromosomes PAIR up.*
8
Phase 2 METAPHASE
9
Steps in Metaphase Chromosomes move to the MIDDLE of the cell and line up.
10
Phase 3 ANAPHASE
11
Steps in Anaphase Chromosomes MOVE APART to opposite ends of the cell along the spindle.
12
Phase 4 TELOPHASE
13
Steps in Telophase Chromosomes begin to uncoil.
The nucleolus reappears.
14
After Mitosis CYTOKINESIS
15
Steps in Cytokinesis The cytoplasm divides forming two new cells.
The cell membrane reforms around the new cells.

They talked about: Cytokinesis

Cell Cycle Mitotic division
The dividing and non-dividing stages in the life of a cell. Phases: Interphase: growth and DNA replication 1. Prophase 2. Metaphase 3. Anaphase 4. Telophase Mitotic division
