Jobs in the Military vary in type of work and responsibility, yet each is essential to accomplishing the overall mission of defending our country.

Infantry train in the core competencies of gunnery, combat operations, and battlefield awareness. They make up the primary scout, assault, and close combat forces of the Marine Corps. These Marines serve in a variety of specialties relating to specific duties and equipment. Some of the equipment include the Light Armored Vehicle, heavy machine guns, mortars, anti-tank missiles, and small arms. Specialties include: Rifleman, Machine gunner, Assault man, Mortar man, Reconnaissance man, Security forces (including presidential security) and LAV crewman.

Depending on if their on deployment it can be about 50 hours a week. However, if you are on deployment in a combat zone, you could be working 16 hours a day or more. It just depends on the task at hand. Most non infantry MOS's will be similar to regular office jobs at home on base (7 AM till 5 PM). Hours typically only change for special training or barracks/battalion 24 hour duty which is usually once a month.

I selected this job because I have had many relatives in the Navy, Marines, and Scouts. I also selected this job because I support marines and their cause to keep our freedom in our country. It is my dream to become one of them in their ranks to also help keep our freedom.
