WHERE DID THE GREAT DANE ORIGINATE FROM? The name Great Dane cam from Denmark, therefore, they are believed to be a Danish dog. They actually originated from Germany Their name came from a man that lived in Denmark, and he wanted his country to have credit in the breeding of the dog, although Denmark had nothing to do with Great Danes

WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE BREEDING OF THE GREAT DANE? The germans needed a big dog to guard the rich and just to keep guard. They needed a breed that was noble, powerful, and huge. Not having a desirable breed, they decided to bred their own dog, and BOOM! They got a great dane. The great dane was trained to protect who they needed to and with the characteristic of being noble, being powerful, and their intimidating size, they were the dream dog the Germans were looking for I can jump this fence as well as you can…

WHAT’S THE AMOUNT OF THE PEOPLE THAT OWN A GREAT DANE? Most people don’t really own great danes because they need a lot of roaming space, meaning you need a big yard. Also, as they age, great danes become problematic with lots of leg problems and internal health problems Great danes are very loving dogs, but people tend to forget that. Great Danes are are often of left to die when families move or they’re dumped on high ways. Meaning that danes aren’t a breed people love. They aren’t on popular dog breed lists either.

WHAT IS THE LIFE SPAN OF A GREAT DANE? The common life span of a great dane is 6-8 years. Some live to about 10, but not commonly. Sadly, they have a really short lifetime, which causes great dane owners to have grief over their dog because you greatly bond with them.

CONSIDERING THEIR SIZE, ARE THEY HELPFUL DOGS? Although great danes are big in size, they have a big heart to! Great Danes are often used as therapy dogs because of how calm and gentle they are.

ARE THEY GENERALLY HEALTHY DOGS? As already said, Great Danes have the shortest life span of all dogs. Since they are always on their legs, the legs usually give in to failure. death cause- they’re stomach is not attached to their rib cage, and with a full stomach it can flip, blocking the intestinal flow.

WHAT MAKES GREAT DANES A TALL/BIG DOG? When the great dane was bred in Germany, to get the great dane, they bred the bull mastiff and a greyhound. With both those breeds in the great danes genes, it made it how big it is now

ARE THEY AN AGGRESSIVE DOG? Great danes are very calm, to the point where they can be couch potatoes… literally! They are very loving and playful as puppies and as adults

ARE GREAT DANES THE TALLEST DOGS? Great Danes are the tallest dog so far. They are about 6 ft.+ when standing on their hind legs! They are the same size as a miniature pony and a little bit smaller than HALF of a horse. Yes!
