2 What is a singular noun?

3 A singular noun is a word that names one person, place, thing, or idea.
For example : snake letter girl

4 Find the singular noun or nouns in the following sentences.
The dog ran down the street. An elephant is a huge animal. That book fell on the floor. Macungie Elementary School is awesome!

6 A plural noun is a word that names more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

7 Special Rules for Plural
You should: If: Examples: add es the noun ends with sh, ch, ss, s, or x bushes, watches, passes, buses, foxes the noun ends with o tomatoes, potatoes change the y to an i and add es if the singular noun ends in a consonant and a y penny  pennies change the f to a v and add es If the singular noun ends with an f wolf  wolves Just add s If the singular noun ends in vowel and y turkey  turkeys

8 More Special Rules Some nouns do not change at all (deer to deer, fish to fish) Some nouns change into different words (child to children, goose to geese, person to people)

9 Find the plural noun or nouns in the following sentences.
The jar was filled with pennies. The students used passes in the hall. There were fish in the water.

10 Find the plural nouns! The deer ran into the woods.
Did you see the people? Where did the mice go? My teeth are nice and clean. The tornadoes ripped up the towns.

11 Singular, plural, or could it be both singular and plural?
wolf children oxen deer man cities feet people woman sheep women moose

12 Change the singular nouns to plural nouns
loaf blueberry monkey wish job deer sandwich tomato person mice man woman
