Nutrition Basically a good, healthy diet with 500 extra calories Space out the calories 5 “mini meals” daily

Are restrictions necessary? No dietary restrictions, unless a history of food allergies Most common are milk products, wheat and eggs It takes 4-6 hours from ingestion of foods to affect the baby, some foods take 24 hours Signs of fussiness, gas Watery, green stools

Chalk board Fast Fact Contrary to popular belief, there are no foods that a breastfeeding mother must eat or must avoid. In fact, maternal diet can influence the color and taste of breastmilk. What about post-pregnancy weight loss? BF women lose an average of 5 - 6 lbs more the first year than non-nursing women Breastfeeding alone does not insure weight- loss

Guidelines for weight loss After breastfeeding is well established No more than 1 pound per week wt loss Combine diet and exercise Nurse on demand Eat at least 2000 calories Maintain adequate fluid intake

What is your best response? I’d sort of like to breastfeed, but I am such a snacker. Love my fries. And chocolate! I’ll bet my milk wouldn’t be good enough. Yes, we both love our burgers and fries. Especially on days when we are busy, we just grab some fast food.
