Using the Percent Proportion Simple percent problems have three parts. 1.The percentage – easy to spot – has % 2.The base – always follows the word “of” 3.The amount – the third number

Find 5% of 20 Cross-multiply: 100 x = 100 Divide: x = 1 5% of 20 is 1

What percent of 40 is 15? Cross-multiply: 40 x = 1500 Divide: x = 37.5 15 is 37.5% of 40
