Email marketing – technical aspects Every email marketing and newsletter platform that you consider(contracted or developed in-house) should offer features in four areas: sending capability email design and creation list management reporting and tracking. 1. Sending Capability Mailing to a large group of people. a. Ability to Deliver Reliably to Users' Inboxes It is the most important part of the email platform and it means that you have to keep a high sender reputation. b. Ability to Pre-schedule an Email Send or Instantly Send The abllity to choose from pre-sheduled send or instant sends. c. Ability to Define Which Email List to Send an Email or Newsletter To To be able to determine which portion of the database or pre-defined list is sending to. d. Ability to Test Send an Email Prior To Mass Sending To first send the email that needs to be send to a larger list to a smaller, internal seed list before being send to the entire email list. Help to check inbox deliverability, display, and even do a final proof before sending to the entire world!

2. Email Design and Creation The email does not jus have to look good, but also be CAN-SPAM compliant, functional and have great inbox deliverability. a. Ability to Modify "From", "Sender" and “Subject Line” Information To provide the ability to modify in the email the "From" field (the field that shows subscribers who the email is from), the address that are being send from as well as the subject line. b. Ability to Instantly Add Unsubscribe Link Is it required by the CAN SPAM Law to provide an easy way for users to unsubscribe from your email ans also, having an easy-to-use and easy-to-spot unsubscribe link in your emails reduces your overall spam complaints. The email marketing platform provider need to be able to effectively remove people from the list, and be able to instantly and regularly insert an unsubscribe link into your email. c. Ability to Regularly Provide Your Physical Mailing Address in the Email The email sending solution should instantly and persistently place your physical mailing address in the footer of the email(not having to remember to manually do it.Your physical mailing address is a CAN-SPAM requirement). d. Ability to Serve HTML Webpage Version of Your Email To allow the user to be able to click through webpage if they can't see the actual email.
