What is Capitalization? Capitalize= Use a big letter not a small letter. Maram Alabdulaaly2

When to Capitalize? 1.The first word of a sentence. – We saw a movie last night. It was very good. 2.The names of people. – The girl’s name is Bayan. 3.Titles used with the names of people. – I saw Doctor Smith/ I saw Dr. Smith. 4.Months, days and holidays. – The next holiday is Halloween, which will be on Monday since it’s on 31 st of October. When to Capitalize? 5.The names of places: – City, state/province, country and continent. The city Los Angelus is in California, which is in the United States of America. – Ocean, lake, river, desert and mountain. The Lake Geneva is in Switzerland. – School, or business. When to Capitalize? 6.The names of courses: – I’m taking Grammar (1) this term. 7.The titles of books, articles, or movies. The novel “Gone with the Wind” is a classic! 6.The names of languages and nationalities. She is from Canada. She speaks French. 6.The names of religions. My religion is Islam. Important Notes Capitalize all other words in a title except: – Articles (a/an, the). – Conjunctions (and, but, or). – Short prepositions (with, in, at, etc). Maram Alabdulaaly6
