3. A Predicate Adjective is similar to a Predicate Noun in that it always comes after a Linking Verb. The Predicate Adjective is always an Adjective. The predicate adjective describes/modifies the subject. Since a Linking Verb acts like an equals sign, Subject = Predicate Adjective You will not have a predicate noun and a predicate adjective next to each other!

5. How to Recognize the Predicate Adjective When labeling Subject Complements: First identify the Prepositional Phrases Identify the Subject Find the Verb. Tell whether the verb is an action verb or linking verb. If it is a Linking Verb, what word is the Subject being linked to? Tell whether the word is a noun or adjective.
