Mark Twain (a real name is Semjuel Lenghorn Klemens) was born on November, 30th 1835 in a settlement Florida (State Missouri). He was an outstanding American writer, a journalist and a public figure. On the peak of his career he was, possibly, the most popular figure in America. William Faulkner wrote that he was “the first real American writer”.

He spent his childhood in a small town of Hannibal on the river Missouri. When his father died, he left school and began to work as a typist in local newspapers. From 18 till 22 he wandered about the country, then he became a pilot on the Mississipi.

Twain's greatest contribution to American and world literature is the novel «The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn». Many people consider it in general as the best literary work ever created in the USA. Creative career

Mark Twain's literary success was coming to an end during the last years of his life. He died on April, 21st, 1910 of an angina pectoris (stenocardia). One year prior to his death he said: «I came in 1835 with Galley Comet, in a year it arrived again, and I expect to leave together with it». So it also had happened. Last years
