Inspiring Challenging Achieving Key dates ahead Monday 15 th October – Monday 22 nd October ENGLISH COACHING WEEK During this week your child will have only English (with the exception of a few periods of maths) They will complete their Speaking and Listening exam as well as their coursework

Inspiring Challenging Achieving Key dates ahead Tuesday 23 rd October – English IGCSE exam Wednesday 24 th October – Friday 26 th October – Maths Coaching Your child will attend no lessons except maths

Inspiring Challenging Achieving Key dates ahead Monday 5 th November – Intensive maths day Tuesday 6 th November – Maths paper 1 Wednesday 7 th November – Maths day to prepare for paper 2 Thursday 8 th November – Maths paper 2

Inspiring Challenging Achieving The English IGCSE International Qualification Many schools already enter it – and many more will do so this year Different paper to AQA but similar skills Offers a further opportunity to gain that all important GCSE C and above

Inspiring Challenging Achieving 3 parts: Exam Coursework Speaking and listening assessment We will do all three in the next three weeks

Inspiring Challenging Achieving BUT… Students must also sit a Literature paper in the summer too The grade on the literature does not affect the GCSE English grade – as long as the paper is sat

Inspiring Challenging Achieving What happens after the exam Results don’t come out until 22 nd January Students will use the time between Nov and Jan to prepare for the AQA English exam Once IGCSE exam results are known different students will follow different paths

Inspiring Challenging Achieving What happens after the exam Results don’t come out until 10 th January Students will use the time between Nov and Jan to continue to improve their mathematical skills Once GCSE exam results are known pupils will be regrouped to refocus on specific skills

Inspiring Challenging Achieving All pupils will sit the Higher tier Most pupils who miss out on a grade C make their mistakes on these questions. Foundation GFEDC DCBAA* Higher Pupils need to understand that there are some of these question they can not do.

Inspiring Challenging Achieving Structure: Since they returned in September your child will have seen the following in lessons every week: A ‘Weeks to go’ sheet – a selection of about 15 exam style questions A 10 for 10 – 10 repetitive exam questions designed to be completed in 10 minutes A number of key topics – for the last time An exam paper – to be completed for homework
