1 Bringing the Water of Life to a thirsty world
Flood the Nations brings the hope, love and grace of Jesus Christ through Mission Water Project Project outreaches

2 Health depends on safe water. Eternity depends on His Water.
Mission Water Project brings safe, clean water to the poorest of the poor in Honduras and Uganda, E. Africa. They send missionary teams to give clean water and invite them to drink from the Water of Life, Jesus Christ! Life depends on water. Health depends on safe water. Eternity depends on His Water. 2

3 The Water Problem Have a drink?
Clean, safe drinking water is a basic human right yet more than one billion people worldwide live without it. Dirty water affects more people than AIDS and cancer combined. In all, unclean water kills more than four million people worldwide each year — making waterborne-illnesses the leading cause of disease and death worldwide. Contaminated drinking water is also a major source of [malnutrition], hepatitis, typhoid and opportunistic infections that attack the immuno-compromised, especially persons living with HIV/AIDS. Water contamination is closely linked to bacterial, parasitic and other waterborne diseases, especially cholera and diarrhea. It is estimated that at least 50% of disease is waterborne. (Source: United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, June 5, 2003) The crisis is particularly acute in the developing world, where 70% of people lack access to safe, treated water. For example, in Latin America and the Caribbean, more than 130 million people live without safe drinking water in their homes. (Source: Pan American Center for Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences) 3

4 The Water Problem Every 15…
At least 2.2 million people worldwide die each year from drinking unsafe water. Every 15 seconds a child dies from water-related diseases. That is 5,000 today. Poor health resulting from inadequate water and sanitation robs children of schooling (and adults of earning power), a situation often aggravated for girls and women in the developing world by the daily chore of collecting water. (Source: Water for Life: Making It Happen 2005, World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund) A World Health Organization cost-benefit analysis showed that every $1 invested in improved drinking water and sanitation can yield economic benefits of $4 to $34, depending on the region (Source: Water for Life: Making It Happen 2005, World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund)

5 The Water Problem 700 vs 5 gallons
In the United States, the average family of four uses more than 700 gallons of water each day for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing. By contrast, the average family in developing countries are able to access only five gallons of water a day to meet its needs. Water Usage Comparisons Each time someone in the United States flushes a toilet, he or she uses the same amount of water that one person in the developing world uses daily to wash, clean, cook and drink. (Source: Women and Water Privatization 2003, Women’s Health Rights Net) In the United States, the average family of four uses more than 700 gallons of water each day for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing. By contrast, the average family in Africa is able to access only five gallons of water a day to meet its needs. (Source: World Resource Institute, “A Guide to the Global Environment”) The average family in the developing world spends up to 25% of their annual income on water. By contrast, an average family in the United States spends only .05% of their yearly household income on water. (Water Partners International)

6 There is good news! This crisis is solvable!
Mission Solution There is good news! This crisis is solvable! FTN Missionary teams bring Hydraid Biosand water filters to Honduras and Uganda! Water wells get contaminated and pumps break that is why a filter of this kind is needed. Already 300,000 have been installed worldwide. Flood the Nations has created the Mission Water Project to be able to bring the Hydraid Biosand water filters to developing countries. Specifically, Uganda, E. Africa and Honduras. We know that water wells can often get contaminated, which is why a filter of this kind is needed. And we know that other filters just aren’t sustainable or lack the capacity to meet daily family needs. Hydraid® is the filter that is proven to deliver safe water in the home at point-of-use. Our Hydraid® BioSand filter dramatically reduces bacteria, viruses and parasites – the leading causes of death and disease in the developing world 6

7 Mission Solution Hydraid BioSand Water Filter
Effective: Removes >99.9% of parasites; 90 to 99% of bacteria and viruses. Simple: No mechanical parts, nothing to replace, gravity powered, lasts 10+ years, and filters 50 gallons per day. Provides daily water needs for a family of 10! Affordable: Can be installed in most countries for about $120 Flood the Nations has created the Mission Water Project to be able to bring the Hydraid Biosand water filters to developing countries. Specifically, Uganda, E. Africa and Honduras. We know that water wells can often get contaminated, which is why a filter of this kind is needed. The rural areas of the country make up the majority of the country’s extreme poor. 40 filters to be installed in the village of name of village. 400 people with fresh water for 10+ years! Sharing Jesus, the Water of Life, with every family member personally! 9

HELP me GO on this trip! My expenses are $1795. Flood the area by telling everyone you know. Invite me to speak at your schools, clubs, Bible studies, company for their social responsibility programs, Rotary club, etc. We need 40 filters for this Honduras trip.
