3  Couples who argue and fight all the time  The legal end of a marriage  When a married couple does not want to live together anymore

4  Each group will have a different reason for the increase in divorce  You have ten minutes to create a short explanation for why your factor has led to an increase in divorce  You will present this to the class

6  Now you have heard each group explain their reason for the increase in divorce fill in your ‘Reasons for the increase in divorce’ sheet.

7  Think about which reason you think is the biggest cause of the increase in divorce and put a 1 in the empty column  The reason you think is the next most important put a 2 and so on  In the box at the bottom explain why you think your number 1 factor is most important.

8 For husbands and wives For the familyFor children You have a copy of this chart. In pairs begin to think about what the consequences divorce can be on the different groups.

9  1.Design a wanted poster or advert for your ideal marriage partner  2.Find out as many facts as you can about divorce and marriage in Britain and display them on a poster  Is marriage a good thing for women? What do they gain from marriage and what they do they lose from being married
