Class Motto We are a family. We will laugh, cry, and disagree just like a family but we will treat each other with respect. We may not always like each other but we will always try our best to get along. We are stuck together for the rest of the school year, let’s make it one to remember in a positive way.

What are the rules in this classroom? 1. Students will come to class prepared to learn. 2. Students will listen to students and school staff as information is shared. 3. Students will be respectful of student, staff and school property. 4. Students will treat every student and school staff member courteously (emotionally and physically).

Guideline #1 Treat all people with respect.

Guideline #2 Follow the directions the FIRST time they are given.

Guideline #3 Raise your hand before you speak.

Guideline #4 Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

Guideline #5 Stay in your seat unless you have permission to be up.

Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the Southside and Harrison County Schools handbooks.

Special Guideline This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this year.

Not Following Guidelines will result in: 1 st Polite reminder to follow procedures. 2 nd Refocus time- Gain permission to re-enter class. 3 rd Referral to a designated person.

Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

Entering the room Please enter quietly (no returning to the locker or hallway without permission after entering the classroom) Have a seat in your assigned seat Take out your materials Place your finished homework on your desk Begin bell work/morning work

Agendas Filled out at the end of each class day or when the teacher tells you to. Agenda for our homeroom is always posted. Signed every night by a parent or guardian. Read 15 min. nightly. Other assignments will be given weekly.

After an absence The 1st thing on the day you return, is go to your desk and look for your makeup work folder. *Look over the packet and ask any questions you might have before leaving that day. Return it by the date that it is due. Turn it in first thing in the morning.

Scheduled check out Please let me know as soon as you arrive that day, when you are going to be leaving. Quietly raise your hand to get my attention. If you are not in my class, make sure you let me know before you leave. Pack your materials quietly and leave at the scheduled time or announcement.

Turning in papers Place your paper on the top left hand side of your desk. If you get a Student Responsibility Card please fill it out and place it on the top left hand side of your desk. I will come by and collect all stacks.

Personal Responsibility Report for Materials This is for students who do not have all their materials upon entering the classroom. Fill out Personal Responsibility Report for Materials Sign and date it Turn it in directly to the teacher then you will be allowed to borrow or get the materials you left.

Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate I want to hear what you have to say Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

Moving around the room You must ask permission (except during morning work, and then you are only to be sharpening your pencils, or getting a book to read) Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency

Class Dismissal The teacher dismisses you, not the clock Do not start packing up prior to being dismissed Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with a friendly greeting.

Lining Up to Leave Wait for the teacher to call your group or row to line up. Your voice should be off. Walk out into the hallway facing forward and stop at the edge of our lockers. Hands should be crossed, in pocket or hanging down. Hold all objects with hands in front or on the side.

Bathroom Walk directly in and out. Use only the amount of toilet paper needed. Flush once and check that toilet is clear. Wash hands with soap and water. Throw trash away in trash can. Line up with your class or follow the line back to your destination.

Intercom Announcements Your voice should be off. Materials down and untouched. Hands and feet quiet. Freeze in place immediately, if you are out of your seat please return as soon as possible. Raise hand to ask questions when announcement is over.

Recess Your voice should be off. Line -up quietly as the teacher calls you. Have fun. Wait for the whistle/bell and hand. Line up at the concrete corner away from the door.

Lunch Your voice should be a level 1 in the cafeteria. Level 0 when you hit the bricks, which means no talking as you walk through the line, so the lunchroom ladies can hear you. Eat with level 2 voice. Wait for the lunchroom lady to announce our class. Line up at the door quietly.

Jobs These will be announced soon. Every student will have a job that is their personal assigned post. We will depend on each other to get tasks finished daily. We are a team!
