7
Delivering independent intelligence for health and wellbeing Features Participants can see your screen hence show powerpoint or desktop or meeting papers Audio through phone Recordable Annotation Screen sharing/desktop sharing Text chat Polls and surveys
8
Delivering independent intelligence for health and wellbeing Things to consider One–way: ie speaker to the audience with limited audience interaction Collaborative: included polling & QA Does it need to be a webinar?
9
Delivering independent intelligence for health and wellbeing Benefits Low cost for you and participants Reach a larger, wider audience Can be recorded, hence repeatable Interactive - controlled or open Internet connection speed doesn’t seem to impact on participant experience Can be set up on the fly or scheduled or routine Can use web cameras to help bring in the audience
10
Delivering independent intelligence for health and wellbeing Limitations Can be very disconcerting as a host not being able to see your audience: are they asleep, are they making faces at you, have they left the room? Some software limit number of participants Difficult to gauge audience’s understanding Difficult to brainstorm
11
Delivering independent intelligence for health and wellbeing Tips for a successful webinar Remember you are still the host and all the normal rules apply ie be prepared and rehearse Get participants to log in and test out the format prior to the webinar at least 15mins. Send out clear instructions Know your audience’s names/role Establish rules with audience prior to starting ie when do Q&A Optimal time is about 60mins Consider a follow up meeting or contact, how going to evaluate Be careful about what you have on your screen!
