4. What is a Moon? A moon is a planet’s natural satellite. That means it is not man made. A satellite is something that orbits another object. That means it goes around another object. Moons are solid objects.

6. There are over one hundred and fifty moons in our solar system. This is a number that is up for debate because some people say that a small 10x10 rock orbiting a planet can be considered a moon. Moon?

7. Can Any Moons in Our Solar System Have Life? W When I talk about life I’m not talking about little green aliens walking around or people like us. I am talking about things like microorganisms. Living things so small that they can only be seen using a microscope. Some scientists believe that some moons in our solar system have this kind of life but it has not been found yet. small that they can only be seen using a microscope.

8. On the Galilean moons of Jupiter, which were discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610, scientists believe there may be life. On these moons there is water but it is ice because not much energy from the sun reaches them. Scientists believe that life might exist under the ice where there might be water. Scientists have discovered that there is heat on these moons from friction caused by Jupiter’s gravitational pull. The gravitational pull makes the moons bulge causing friction. Which causes heat and volcanic eruptions.

9. Scientists think this heat can help things live beneath the frozen oceans on these moons. They believe this because life on Earth was discovered at the bottom of the ocean where the sun’s energy could not reach. The water was heated by under water volcanoes. Worms, clams, and shrimp were found.
