2  A mixture is two or more substances that have been combined without any chemical reaction. The substances can easily be separated by boiling or dissolving. Even though they are mixed, the substances remain with its indentity.

3  A compound contains two or more atoms that are chemically combined.  Mixtures contains two or more atoms that are not chemically combined.

4  For example, when you want to separate salt from sand, you need to: -Add water and heat until the salt dissolve -Remove the sand from the salty water -Boil the water until it evaporates -At the bottom of the pan, salt will remane.

5  Salt & Water- condensation  Sugar & Water- crystallization  Ethanol & Water – Distillation  Iron & Sulphur- Magnet

6 1. Sulphur is used to make sulphuric acid. 2. Molten Sulphur is sprayed into a furnace and burned in a blast of hot air. 3. Magnesium is used in fireworks and flares 4. An alloy is a mixture of metals. 5. The gases can be collected separately. This is called fractional distillation.
