2. W HAT ’ S S O B IG A BOUT Miranda Lambert? Miranda Lambert has received many awards. She co-writes almost all of her songs. Miranda’s first album sold about one million copies as of 2008.

3. Miranda was born on November 10, 1983 in Longview, Texas and raised in Lindale, Texas.

4. C HILDHOOD When Miranda was nine her parents took her to a Garth Brooks concert and this started her interest in country music. At age sixteen, Miranda began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas, the same show that helped launch the career of LeAnn Rimes.

5. C HILDHOOD Miranda quickly landed a recording session in Nashville, but left the studio after she became frustrated with the sound of the pop music. She then went back to Texas and asked her dad to teach her how to play guitar so she could write her own songs.

6. M USIC C AREER In 2003, Miranda auditioned forthe talent competition“Nashville Star,” eventuallybecoming a third-place finisheron the show.On September 15, 2003, shesigned with Epic Records.Her Debut single, “Me andCharlie Talking” (co-written byher father and Heather Little,was released in the summer of2004 as the lead-off single to herdebut album.

7. M USIC C AREER ( CONT.) Kerosene was Miranda’s first album comprised twelve songs, eleven of which she co-wrote. The album debuted at number one on Top Country Albums charts, and eventually gained a Platinum certification by the RIAA for shipments of over one million copies, selling more than 930,000 copies as of July 2008.

8. A WARDS In 2008 she won Album of the Year for her album Crazy Ex-Girlfriend In 2010 Miranda won Top Female Vocalist of the Year and then Album of the Year for her album Revolution. Miranda also won Video of the Year for her song, “White Liar” and Song of The Year for her top song “The House That Built Me.” Miranda is also nominated for a lot of awards coming up in the Country Music Awards this November.

9. P ERSONAL L IFE In 2006, Miranda began dating fellow country singer Blake Shelton. Miranda sang background vocals on Blake’s 2008 single “Home,” and they also did a duet together.

10. B LAKE AND M IRANDA Blake proposed to Miranda on May 9, 2010. It was Mother’s Day and a rare quiet time for the busy couple. “She and I were going to be home for about three days together, just the two of us, and that doesn’t happen that often. I wanted to ask her on that first day she got home, so we’d have a couple of days together, just alone.” Blake told People magazine about the engagement.

11. M IRANDA ’ S L IFE N OW Miranda moved from Texas to Oklahoma, where she bought a farm a couple of miles away from Blake’s. Miranda has lived in Texas all her life so moving to Oklahoma was a big change. She bought some animals and she is raising chickens.

12. Maybe you don’t think Miranda Lambert is anything big, but now you know she co-writes a lot of her songs, has won many awards, and her first album sold over one million copies.
