Lancaster Summer Schools An overview of Summer Schools at Lancaster University for the academic year 2014

A Lancaster Summer School is a chance for students to try some of the great opportunities that a university education can provide. We give students the opportunity to study a subject of their choice and develop key skills for university including academic writing, presentation skills, and teamwork. What is a Lancaster Summer School?

We’re proud to be a collegiate university and students on our Summer Schools will be encouraged to take an active part in their given college, meet and make new friends and to get involved in the exciting sports and social activities that make up part of the Lancaster student experience. What is a Lancaster Summer School?

You will: Try out a specific academic subject selected by you Join a Lancaster University college Meet and work alongside our Student Ambassadors, all current students at Lancaster University Develop Key Skills in team work, academic writing, presentations and much more Self-Catered What does the Summer School involve?

The following Summer Schools are available for students in Year 12 (during the 2014-15 academic year): Study Medicine 22-25 June 2015 Study Biochemistry and Biomedical Science 6-9 July 2015 Study Arts, Humanities and Social Science 6-9 July 2015 – Including Art; English Literature and Creative Writing; History; Law and Criminology; Politics and International Relations; and Sociology What Summer Schools are on offer and when will they take place?

The following Summer Schools are available for students in Year 12 (during the 2014-15 academic year): Study Business and Management 20-23 July 2015 – Including Accounting and Finance; Business Studies and General Management; Economics; Entrepreneurship; Management Science; Marketing; and Organisation, Work and Technology Study Science and Technology 20-23 July 2015 – Including Chemistry; Computer Science; Mathematics and Statistics; Physics; and Psychology What Summer Schools are on offer and when will they take place?

The following Summer Schools are available for students in Year 12 (during the 2014-15 academic year): Step Into Lancaster (Gifted and Talented) 3-6 August 2015 – Including projects from across our four faculties What Summer Schools are on offer and when will they take place?

All places on the Summer Schools are FREE for students who meet one or more of our widening participation criteria: Neither of your parents went to University straight from school or college You have a disability which you feel might limit your options for University You are cared for by someone other than my parents or are a care leaver You have ‘free school meals’ at school or college; a daily lunch that your family do not pay for You receive the 16 – 19 Bursary (was EMA) You are a parent or carer for someone in your family You must also be able to achieve ABB or above in your A levels or equivalent qualifications. How much will it cost and who can attend?
