Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity Conclave National Conclave – Assemblage of the Grand Chapter – Biennial; one week in the summer of even years – Hosted by a collegiate chapter or team of chapters – Each chapter sends a delegate, paid for by the National Office – All brothers can attend – 2014 National Conclave will be hosted by AK July 27 – August 1 District Conclaves – Typically annual with rotating hosts – Brainstorming session with other activities

Dow (Dow company president 1930-1949) Gilbert Lewis (Lewis dot structures, Lewis acids and bases) Linus Pauling (Only person with 2 unshared Nobel Prizes) Bassam Shakhashiri (Chemistry demonstration shows and books) Professional Branch founded in 1922 at the 7 th conclave in St. Louis, MO

Started as a male organization in 1902 Suggestions for women to join as early as 1942 Motion to remove gender from membership qualifications passed in 1970 at the 30 th conclave in Austin, TX 1 st woman initiated September 1 st 1971 Women were inconsistently called either Brother or Sister, leading some to feel insulted In 1979 it was determined that both men and women shall be called Brother to show equal standing in our Fraternal organization.
