Natural Resources Natural Resources are materials found in nature that can be used by people. Each ecosystem has its own unique natural resources.

Renewable vs. Nonrenewable Resources Renewable Resource: a natural resource that can be replaced as quickly as it is used up. Ex- WIND Nonrenewable Resource: a natural resource that is replaced much more slowly than it is used up. Ex- COAL

What is the Rock Cycle? The rock cycle is a series of processes by which rocks change from one type to another.

Sedimentary Rock Sedimentary rocks- form when particles from natural materials get pressed and cemented together.

Igneous Rock Igneous rock- forms when magma or lava cools and hardens to become solid. Magma- melted rock below the ground Lava- melted rock above the ground

Metamorphic Rock Metamorphic rock- forms when pressure and temperature change existing rock.
