Life Harriet Beecher Stowe was born June 14, 1811 in Litchfield Connecticut and died July 1, 1896 in Harford Connecticut. She was an american abolitionist and an author.

Harriet Beecher Stowe published more than 30 books which catapulted her to international celebrity and secured her place in history. She believed her actions can make a positive difference. Her words changed the world.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin Her novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin was a depiction of life for African American under slavery. In the first year after it was published it was published 300,000 copies of the books were sold in the U.S 1,000,000 in Great Britain. The book inspired help popularize a number of stereo types about black people. The book helped lay the ground work of the civil war and was 285 pages.
