Height, Weight & BMI Difference By Paige Hall and Jessica Reid

What is the Height, Weight & BMI Difference Between 10 Boys & 10 Girls at 16 Years of Age?

It was collected at random and was easy to create. The data was collected from ten 16 year old boys and ten 16 year old girls.

Height The height difference in the results represented by the graph shows that boys were almost symmetrical in increase by approximately 15 percent from the shortest girl and boy compared to the tallest boy and girl. We were expecting that the results would vary a bit more because of the heights that were collected; however the results did prove to be very accurate. In the whisker box plot it represents that the average height of a 16 year old girl is at least 15.2cm less than a 16 year old boy.

Weight The weight represented in the graph is represented in much the same way as the heights; that is in a symmetrical way, as it corresponded with the Body Mass Index. The dramatic rise in the boy’s data was likely to have occurred because of the height of a few of the participants, in relation to the overall average. The difference between the boys and girls is on average, 1cm. In the whisker box plot it shows that the average weight of a 16 year old girl is at least 13.4kg less than a 16 year old boy.

Box Plot - BMI The Body Mass Index for boys and girls are very similar using the average, as all of the participants in each of the categories are reasonably similar in height and weight. This is clearly represented in the box and whisker plot as well as the graph.
