13. Greater Mumbai UA With a population of about 18.4 million, it is the largest UA in India. In 1951 the UA’s population was only 3.2 million. The proportion of children (0-6) in this UA is 9.47%, lower than the national average for total urban area for the country. Female Literacy Rate at 87.19% is the highest among the three megacities.

Delhi UA Population of Delhi UA is 16.3 million persons in Census 2011 (Provisional) The growth in population has slowed down from 52.24% in 1991-2001 to 26.69% in 2001-11 (Provisional) Proportion of children (0-6) declined from 14.39% in 2001 Census to 11.72% in Census 2011. Female Literacy Rate now stands at 81.11%.

15. Kolkata UA Third largest among the megacities in terms of population Kolkata UA has a population of 14.1 million at Census 2011 (Provisional). The UA has recorded a population growth of only 6.87% during the last decade. Female Literacy Rate of this UA at Census 2011 is 85.53%.
