2 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e HQ USAF A1SOC AF Child and Youth Programs Air Force Teen Council (AFTC) History o Launched Summer 2010 o Response to a Youth of the Year issue: Teens voice to AF Leadership o Mission Statement: Increase and improve communication between AF Teens and AF leadership to enact change and improve quality of life for AF youth and teens

3 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Air Force Teen Council (AFTC) Roles o Coordinate with AF Regional Teen Councils o Identify issues impacting military teens o Brief Senior Leaders on teen / family concerns o Participate at Caring for People (CFP) Forum o Lead sessions at Youth of the Year (YoY) and Teen Leadership Camps (TLC) o Be a catalyst for AF Teen Movement Projects HQ USAF A1SOC AF Child and Youth Programs

4 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Air Force Teen Movement Projects o Teen Projects determined at Youth of the Year o Developed and voted on by teens o Top project(s) implemented Air Force-wide o Projects are designed to cultivate experiences in: o Post secondary education o Vocational experiences o Lifelong civic engagement o Leadership opportunities o Started with My Healthy Generation in 2011 o 3,200 youth participated; gained 350 new members HQ USAF A1SOC AF Child and Youth Programs

11 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e HQ USAF A1SOC AF Child and Youth Programs Joint Services Teen Council (JSTC) o Comprised of youth from the Air Force, Army and Navy Teen Councils o Met and identified the top 4 teen issues: o Increase Opportunities for Youth / Teens o Increase Youth / Teen Participation o Increase Awareness of School Liaison Officers / School Resources o Increase Awareness and Marketing for Youth Programs

12 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e JSTC Project: Operation Mega-Phone o Raise awareness on military teen issues and programs o Develop PSA to help teens identify resources and opportunities in their communities o Host a global Military Lock-In during the Month of the Military Child (April 26, 2013) o Services work independently o Post work on Facebook page HQ USAF A1SOC AF Child and Youth Programs
