Physical Health For humans, physical health means a good body health, which is healthy because of regular physical activity (exercise), good nutrition, and adequate rest. Physical wellbeing: Achievable through developing all health-related components of his/her lifestyle: Fitness- reflects a person's cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition. Other contributors to physical wellbeing: -proper nutrition, bodyweight management, abstaining from drug abuse, avoiding alcohol abuse, responsible sexual behavior (sexual health), hygiene, and getting the right amount of sleep.

Mental Health Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. Mental illness is defined as “collectively all diagnosable mental disorders” or “health conditions that are characterized by alterations in thinking, mood, or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress and/or impaired functioning.”

Social Health Encourages contributing to our human and physical environment for the common welfare of our community Emphasis of this facet of wellness should be placed on creating and maintaining health relationships with others by talking, sharing interests, and actively participating in social events Social Wellness emphasizes the interdependence of others and encourages contributions to society

Emotional Health Defined by the degree to which you feel emotionally secure and relaxed in everyday life. An emotionally healthy person has a relaxed body, an open mind and an open heart The more emotional health you have, the more self esteem you have which means that you do not frequently react with “knee jerk” responses, anxiety or panic to events that occur

Environmental Health Addresses all the physical, chemical and biological factors external to a person, and all the related factors impacting behavior Targeted towards preventing disease and creating health- supportive environments “Environmental health and protection is the art and science of protecting against environmental factors that may adversely impact human or the ecological balances essential to long-term human health and environmental quality.” Factors include but are not limited to: Air, food, and water contaminants, radiation, toxic chemicals, disease vectors, safety hazards -Report of the Committee on the Future of Environmental Health
