Degree of Adjectives 2 Types of Adjectives: 1st/2nd Declension Adjectives (recognized by the Nominative Singulars of “-us,-a,-um” ending) & 3rd Declension Adjectives (recognized by the Nominative Singulars of“-is,-is,-e” endings) 3 DEGREES OF ADJECTIVES Examples: 1. POSITIVE – laetus,-a,-um “happy” 2. comparative – laetior “happier” 3. Superlative – laetissimus,-a-um “happiest”, “most happy”, “very Happy” **Most superlative adjectives in latin form by adding the letters “-issimus,-a,-um” to the root of the adjective. Some however, are “special” (see your notes!)
