Some Significant Texts Ex. 12:24-27, “What does this mean?” Deut. 6:4-7, “Love the Lord your God..” Prov. 22:6, “Train up a child...” Prov. 13:24, “He who spares the rod..” –1 Sam. 3:13 – the failure to discipline. –Col. 3:21 – the proper discipline. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones” (Matthew 18:10).

Some Spiritual Suggestions Before they can read: –Sing spiritual songs to/with them –Tell them Bible stories, again and again –Talk about Jesus in teachable moments –Give answers to questions that include God –Give him/her their own Bible –Help memorize short passages of Scripture –Pray with them every night –Do not miss Bible study and worship Do good deeds with them –Reward good behavior

“When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking” When parents love children, they learn to trust their parents. When parents teach about God, children believe because they trust you. Their faith grows as they see your faith, constant and consistent. Ultimately, their faith will become their own.

“That they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments. And not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not prepare its heart and whose spirit was not faithful to God.” (Psalm 78:7-8)
