3 The Purpose of this course is the following:  To improve your speaking, pronunciation and listening skills  To develop expertise and awareness of techniques and strategies that will help you communicate more effectively  To communicate better in academic settings and every day situations

4  To understand short academic lectures and practice note- taking skills  To improve listening skills in the following ways: listen for the main idea, find specific information to answer questions and make inferences  Practice using English in academic and social situations  Learn communication strategies, such as summarizing, pausing, transitioning, asking for clarification and more.  Learn how to monitor and fix your own pronunciation errors  Become familiar with idiomatic and academic vocabulary in English.
