TEKS 6.1F Lesson 3 (2 nd 6 Weeks)

Multiple Any product of two factors 12 x 6 = 72 7 x 9 = 63 factors product (multiple of 12 & 6) product (multiple of 7 & 9)

Least Common Multiple The least common multiple of two or more numbers is the least number that is in each of their list of multiples To list the multiples of a number, multiply that number by 1, and then by 2, and then by 3, and so on. Multiples of 4: Multiples of 7: 4,8,12,16,20,24,….. 7,14,21,28,35,42,…… EX:

How to Find the LCM To find the LCM of two or more numbers; follow these steps: 1.List the first several multiplies of each of the numbers (the number itself is always the first multiple) 2.Identify the least number that appears in all the lists. 3.If there is no common multiple in the lists you made, find more multiples.

Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, EX: Find the least common multiple of 4 and 7. 28,32,….. Multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, …… The least multiple they have in common is 28. 28 is the LCM of 4 and 7

Mrs. Hoffman wants to buy enough markers and colored pencils for classroom supplies. Markers come in packages of 10 and colored pencils come in packages of 12. What is the least number of packages of each she can buy so that she has the same number of markers and colored pencils? A.2 packages of markers and 3 packages of pencils B.5 packages of markers and 6 packages of pencils C.4 packages of markers and 3 packages of pencils D.6 packages of markers and 5 packages of pencils

Find the LCM of 10 and 12. Multiples of 12: Multiples of 10:10,20,30,40, 12, 50 24,36,48,60,60 The least multiple they have in common is 60. 60 is the LCM of 10 and 12.
