The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold: Recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and; Provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

Definition: The ability to use one’s time effectively or productively Time Management Involves: Setting goals Planning Organizing Utilizing resources Conserving time Maintaining life / work / school balance

Priorities are the tasks that you have to do (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) Choose a method of prioritizing that works for you Colors Numbers Letters Things that should be on your list of priorities are… Study time Family obligations Working hours Class schedule Extracurricular activities

Procrastination: Defined as a tendency to put things off Writing a paper the night before it is due Cramming for a test instead of studying for it from the start Impacts: Unnecessary stress Sleep deprivation Counter-productivity – you’re reacting rather than being proactive

Try to eliminate unnecessary or time-wasting tasks Learn to say ‘NO’ to people Work together with those around you Write tasks down on your own daily priority schedule Priority / non-urgent / special notes Be realistic (and compassionate) of what you can do Wear a watch or carry your cell phone so that you are always aware of the time Set your alarm to complete tasks if necessary Reward yourself for effective time management
